MHOR photography with Amoghavira

Monachyle Mhor is delighted to introduce our well kept secret Amoghavira who as you will read has become a very sought after photographer. He was highly commended in the Landscape photographer of the year competition 2008 and currently winner in the 2009 landscape photographer of the year competition. And just recently Amogavira has been shortlisted, Digital Photographer of the Year.

We are delighted to launch a seasonal two day photography experience. The landscape here is a photographers paradise from early mist rising on the loch, autumn color blaze, sparkiling streams and waterfalls to mention a little subject matter.

Amoghavira
Landscape photography has become something of a passion for me over the last 10 years. I love being out photographing in the wild landscapes, it seems to answer a deep need in me to be connected to the natural world. As you’ll see from my website (www.amoghavira.com), Scottish landscape is my main source of inspiration with its ever changing light and weather.

As a Buddhist I meditate regularly and aim to bring some of the calm and presence of meditation into my photography. With this course I will aim to cover some of the technical aspects of digital photography so we're taking the image we want rather than letting the cameras make the decisions for us. To do this it is better to have a camera that allows us to do this ( ie a camera that isn't fully automatic), an SLR camera is ideal. Also we will look at the art of composing images, use of filters, tripod, the importance of quality of light in a landscape. We will, weather permitting, get out into some of the beautiful landscape around the hotel to put the theory into practice.

Testimonial "The photography course at the Monachyle Mhor Hotel was informative, informal, fun and was geared to the enthusiastic amateur wanting to improve their skills. Amogavira was a great teacher: hugely knowledgeable, patient and a great motivator. Even the bad weather couldn’t dampen our enthusiasm! Since the course I have been out taking photographs at every opportunity and I am now thoroughly enjoying my hobby. I would recommend this course to anyone interested in learning how to take better photographs."  Elaine.
