In the new demonstration room above MHORFish in Callander we will show you what really fresh fish is all about, and give you a better understanding of the many varieties you can choose from. Our aim is to encourage more people to cook with fish and to demonstrate that it's quick, easy and nutritious. Fish is well-known 'brain food', it's a good source of high quality protein and is usually low in saturated fat.
We will dispel the fear of bones. Fish tastes far better cooked on the bone, but we will also show you how to scale and fillet a fish too. And as for shellfish, we aim to show you that there's no need to avoid it once you know how to tackle it. Our ultimate objective is to make you more confident about choosing, preparing and cooking fresh fish in your own home. Giving you an interesting - and fun - morning along the way.

10am A few fish facts: Where? When? How? Why? Plus the only three knives you will ever need...... cook's, flexible filleting, serrated Victorinox..... and how to sharpen them. Followed by an oyster shucking demonstration
Taking the Plunge Everyone shucks two oysters and prepares one hot, one cold
Scales, Guts and Skins From chopping board to oven: demonstration of scaling, gutting and preparing fish
Let's Get Cooking How to cook a perfect piece of fish: one on the bone and one off
1:30pm Lunch A couple of quick and easy recipes, then lunch and a glass of wine
